The historic and cultural significance of the Trinidad Harbor is rich and diverse. Trinidad Harbor encompasses an ancient Yurok village of "Tsurai", the earliest known inhabitants of Trinidad. The purpose of the Trinidad pier reconstruction project is to correct the structural deficiencies of the pier and improve utilities for the benefit of the public. The existing pier was built in 1946 and is the northermost oceanfront pier in California, and the epicenter for the entire community.
